-1 small bowl of any dal (moong, masoor, tur)
-3 pods of garlic
-1-2 green chillies
-1 sprig of curry leaves
-1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 inch of ginger
-1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Wash the dal with water, chop onion, garlic, ginger, chillies finely.
Heat a stainless steel pressure cooker. Once hot, add mustard seeds- when they splutter, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, chopped onions garlic ginger and chillies.
Add the washed dal, turmeric, salt, 2 cups of water and cook for 2-3 whistles.
Dal is an excellent source of protein, fiber and folic acid. When combined with cereals, dals become a source of complete protein.
